1.    Use only Australian certified safety glass; we use two types of safety glass; Grade A – Toughened & Laminated Safety Glass. These are covered by Australian Standard AS 1288-2006 for installation and selection and AS/NZS 2208:1996 detailing safety test requirements 2.    Use a qualified licensed & experienced installer or choose a DIY friendly screen 3.    When installing the shower screen you may do it yourself according to Australia Law however there are certain styles such as Frameless that we recommend leaving to a qualified glass person 4.    Easier styles have lighter glass, partial frame & telescopic adjustment such as the Elfreda Suite Semi Frameless Shower Screen 5.    Work toward standard sizes, we deliver  a large range of standard shower screen panels as well as custom made Shower Screens available in incremental size options 6.    Glass must be cut to size before toughening, & cannot be re-worked once toughened. This is why its very important to take accurate measurements before processing the glass, including the floor & wall levels 7.     A certificate of compliance is available on completion of a Pipers Installation. Or if you are doing it yourself we can provide a supply only one 8.     Always measure exactly where you want the shower screen to sit & put a spirit level on the wall & floor 9.     Do not use abrasive cleaners of any kind on hinges & other hardware 10.    Keep glass clean to prevent mineral & soap deposits 11.    Set rules where the glass is not pushed on, banged into or slammed. Role model safe practices are required in glassed areas, its not a playground 12.    If you have had any movement in the house check that it hasn’t put pressure on the glass 13.    Do not allow soap scum to build up. Soap scum is alkaline, so if it is left there for a few months without being cleaned, it will etch into the glass as glass is porous 14.    Keep a plastic or cloth squeegee in the shower or use your towel to wipe away droplets after every shower so they don’t get a chance to dry 15.    Use non-alkaline soap. It’ll help protect your shower screen and it’s better for your skin anyway
Hinged shower doors that swing inwards only are not permitted by code. They should open outwards. There is a safety issue where previously people have been stuck in their shower screen therefore they should always open outward. It is a minimum BCA requirement for the door to open outward. Some designs like frameless glass have 180 degree hinges, allowing both outward and inward door designs.
